With Christmas around the corner, it’s the perfect time to spread some holiday cheer while reinforcing essential EHS practices on-site. Especially with cold weather conditions bringing extra hazards to the workplace, you want to make sure that everyone stays safe 🎄

Wondering what else you can do for safety (on top of using EHS software on Microsoft 365)? Look no further – we’ve crafted 14 creative and festive campaigns to promote EHS and well-being this holiday season.

Have yourself a hazard-free Christmas!

1. Safety Advent Calendar

Create an advent calendar where each day reveals a new safety tip or challenge. This can include quizzes, safety drills, or reminders about PPE.

2. Decorate Safely Contest

Encourage teams to decorate their workspaces with a focus on safety. Reward the safest and most creative decorations. This can include ensuring fire exits are clear, using non-flammable materials, and securing decorations properly. Need some inspiration? Here are some creative desk wonderlands!

3. Holiday Safety Training Sessions

Host special training sessions themed around holiday safety. Topics can include winter weather precautions, safe driving tips for icy conditions, and proper use of holiday lights and decorations.

4. Safety Stocking Stuffers

Distribute small, practical safety items in festive stockings. Items could include hand warmers, reflective gear, first aid kits, or safety glasses.

5. Elf on the Shelf Safety Patrol

Place an “Elf on the Shelf” in different areas of the site each day, highlighting potential hazards or safety tips. Employees can participate by finding the elf and noting the safety message. (We’ve got one at the Pro-Sapien office as well!)

6. 12 Days of Safety

Run a campaign where each of the 12 days leading up to Christmas focuses on a different aspect of safety. This can include topics like ergonomics, fire safety, electrical safety, and more.

7. Festive Safety Posters

Design and display festive-themed safety posters around the site. Use holiday imagery to draw attention to important safety messages.

8. Winter Weather Preparedness Kits

Provide employees with kits that include essentials for winter weather, such as ice scrapers, gloves, and emergency blankets. Include information on how to stay safe in cold conditions.

9. Safety Carolling

Create fun and engaging safety carols that employees can sing. This can be a lighthearted way to remind everyone of important safety practices.

10. Holiday Safety Pledge

Encourage employees to sign a holiday safety pledge, committing to follow safety protocols and to look out for their colleagues during the festive season.

11. Virtual Safety Bingo

Organize a virtual bingo game where each square represents a different safety task or tip. Employees can mark off squares as they complete tasks, with prizes for those who get bingo.

12. Christmas Safety Video Messages

Have leadership team members record short video messages with holiday safety tips and well wishes. Share these videos on the company intranet.

13. Festive Health-Check Day

Organize a day where employees can get their annual workplace health screenings. Set up festive-themed health stations for blood pressure checks, vision tests, and flu shots.

14. Give Hazards Festive Names

Ever heard of the Scottish Gritters? Calvin Harri-ice, Creedence Clear-Road Survival, Blizzard of Oz? Raise awareness for typical wintery workplace hazards with fun festive campaign names. Here are some that we came up with:

Sleet Dreams Are Made of This – The hazard of icy outdoor walkways.

Rudolph the Red-Flag Lifter – Improper lifting techniques leading to injuries.

Slip Around the Christmas Tree – Those slippery floors ready to send you sliding.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Trip Hazards – Cluttered walkways that make it feel like hazards are everywhere.

Hopefully, you’ve found some inspiration for this year’s Christmas safety campaigns in our article. 🎅 And if you’re fully in the Christmas spirit now, sing along to our 12 days of EHS Christmas!
